Welcome to ISU Family Medicine

The Idaho State University Department of Family Medicine is committed to clinical excellence, academic productivity, faculty development and service to our supporting institutions and the community.

The Family Medicine Residency is part of the Department of Family Medicine and is enriched by its close association with the other four divisions (which you can learn about through the links). Our closely associated Pharmacy Residency is housed in the Pharmacotherapeutic Division. Residents receive comprehensive training in a broad range of practice settings, with an emphasis on the care of under-served populations in Idaho and the Intermountain West.

Our goal is to provide a collegial learning environment in which residents become mature, competent, compassionate family physicians. Please learn more about our residency through this website and by contacting us directly.

Fall 2009

Our 3rd year residents are negotiating contracts, our 2nd year residents are enjoying the transition out of intern year and getting ready for moonlighting, and our Interns are settling in, working hard and performing well.

A new hospital is in our future! The new Portneuf Medical Center will contain 187 beds, labor and delivery, ICU as well as state of the art equipment. Construction continues on schedule and the new hospital will open January 2011. Please click here for updates on the build.

We have been impressed by many of this year's applicants, and look forward to meeting those yet to interview.

We are currently updating our website - please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.
