Longitudinal Subspecialty

The Longitudinal Subspecialty rotation in the third year consists of twelve weeks of contemporaneous clinical training in physicians’ offices in the specialties of ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, urology and some gynecology.

Opthamology

The ophthalmology is with one of the three town ophthalmologist and provides office-based, primary care opthalmalogical teaching.

ENT

Dr. Casey McGee is a very committed faculty preceptor and provides good training in general ENT problems including microscopic examination and indications of tympanostomy tube placement.

Dermatology

There are three dermatologists, all committed to teaching, and residents go to them two half-days a week during the twelve weeks.

Urology

Drs. Bohus and Norman are the town urologists and provide good primary care training for residents one day a week, or if residents prefer, on a two-week separate session.

GYN

The GYN component is spent in Dr. DeSano’s office, who’s an expert in endocrinological gynecology, and with Dr. Jean Bokelmann in the Student Health Center to gain additional GYN abnormal PAP smear and colposcopy experience.
